The debut of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet at this year’s Paris Air Show was not only a milestone for the program, but it also marked a special occasion for Pratt & Whitney as the MRJ engine partner presented its PW1200G Geared Turbofan™ Engine.
Pratt & Whitney noted that the MRJ was the first aircraft to sign on to use the Geared Turbofan™ Engine, which spawned four orders from other aircraft manufacturers.
"The Mitsubishi Regional Jet holds a special place in all of our hearts at Pratt because they were the first to select the Geared Turbofan™ for their new airplane." – Mary Ellen Jones, Vice President Sales – Americas, for Pratt & Whitney
In the midst of a rigorous testing schedule, the MRJ is making significant progress toward type certification. With the recent FAA type certification of the PW1200G Geared Turbofan™ Engine, the aircraft is one step closer to commercial entry.
Thanks to advanced aerodynamics and Pratt & Whitney’s next-generation engines, the MRJ will offer better fuel efficiency and lower emissions than any aircraft in its class.
